Who Lives In Russell?
08:08
|
|||
Hello my sister,
You sure look good to me,
Temperature rising,
Brain melts at 93,
You told me “get in”,
I’ll take you for a ride,
To a ghost town backwood,
And give you ice cream smile,
Where are we going?
Where have you been taking me?,
She said “just relax now honey”
Through stained glassed muscled teeth,
Winding through sunlight,
A melting summer’s heat,
Almost colliding,
With a stoned out vee-hicky,
Who lives in Russell?
Who dreamt this limbo town?
What happened over?
The counterfeit underground,
Did the windows smash themselves?
Did the plants grow emotions and die?
Did the sun burn out the lights?
Of the tenants nowhere in sight,
Idle machinist,
Waiting there on a motor bike,
He never stared at us,
Just stared straight ahead?
“Sir, are you waiting for someone?
Do you need assistance-sees?”
Smiled and said nothing,
Drove off and left him be,
Sign said “police take notice,
That one lane bridge is closed,
Closed off to all,
Closed off on Monday now,
We idled looking up,
Trying to decipher that sign,
A cloud of black smoke come rising,
Out gazing to the sky,
We took that one lane,
Cruised down the pavement line,
Arrived to shell shock,
That old mill up in fire,
Couldn’t tell the flames melt,
From the heat of that horizon,
I just, caught a quick glimpse,
As I watched it rise into the sky,
I could smell the woodburn,
That 50s paper burn,
The tower crumbled as my sister,
Turned that car around,
Out came a man,
From an idling red truck,
Stared just for a minute,
Heard him murmur “just my luck”,
I thought I dreamt it,
That busted window town,
What happened in Russell sister?
What made that mill burn down?
It felt like Corwood,
A man in twisted checks,
Some kind of silhouette you’d see,
While in a fever dream drenched in a cold sweat,
Where did you take me sister?
Was this place real?
Who lives in Russell sister?
Could you tell me what to feel?

I Stepped Outside
07:55
|
|||
I woke up this morning,
I stepped outside,
I drank my coffee,
I smashed a fly,
Against the window of the canyon line,
My feet were stained,
With the paint from your hair,
And I couldn’t remember what I’d improvised,
While standing under that,
Hot water coming down,
Coating me,
But it didn’t cleanse me,
When I stepped outside,
And I wanted to tell you,
And I wanted to tell you,
And I wanted to tell you,
As you held out your hand,
But I couldn’t remember,
In the cold of December,
Just what exactly had been on my mind,
When I stepped outside,
You were dressed in pineapples,
And we stared at the sky,
Down at the ballpark,
With the sun in your eyes,
A red balloon was tied to,
A tree in the water,
And you walked over to see,
And I pictured our daughter,
And I wanted to tell you,
And I wanted to tell you,
And I wanted to tell you,
What’s been on my mind,
It was you,
Dancing naked in your apartment,
So graceful,
So fragile,
So beautiful,
To the skipping blues,
On the hard time killing floor,
You were my lover,
Unlike any other,
You turned,
In bed you turned away,
I put my arm around,
And lord knows,
I love you anyway.
